Voyager cadets participate in the Long Duration Mission program. They are assigned to teams called squadrons and compete in monthly episodic missions (referred to as Long Duration Missions "LDM") per school year. The missions are 2.5 hours each; think "Battle School" in Ender's Game. Voyager cadets earn team and individual points during an LDM based on their communication, leadership, and reasoning skills. Voyagers earn extra points for their school work in the STEM subjects. The points determine which squadron earns the school term's Top Team Award. These LDM programs are fun and challenging; it's like stepping into a Star Trek episode where our cadets are the crews of a starship facing challenges centered in literary conflicts of man against man, man against nature, and man against himself.
