The Voyager Club is an educational service organization which emphases space, science fiction, and technology. Our club uses science fiction to enrich our club's focus on science, technology, engineering, and math. Voyager Club members believe the future of mankind is bright with promise if we work together to promote education and cooperation as a tool to solve society's problems. We believe space is the next frontier. We work towards creating a space faring civilization.
Voyagers meet one Saturday per month at The Christa McAuliffe Space Center. Every month cadets fly missions aboard the USS Voyager starship simulator. These episodic missions are called Long Duration Missions (LDM). Cadets in the LDM program are divided into flight squadrons; think "Battle School" in Ender's Game. Voyagers earn team and individual points based on their communication, leadership, and reasoning skills displayed during the missions. Voyagers earn extra points for their school work in the STEM subjects. The points determine which squadron earns the school term's Top Team Award. The LDM program is fun and challenging. It's like stepping into a Star Trek episode where our Voyagers are the crew of a starship facing challenges springing from the great literary themes: man against man, man against nature, and man against himself.
Monthly meetings also include Space Academy - STEM classes, workshops, and projects. Our academy curriculum support and enriches the missions flown on the USS Voyager starship simulator. Cadets earn rank advancements through their Academy coursework.
